Gathered Around A Table

Do you think your coffee table or side table is just a piece of furniture to put coffee mugs and other things? Not at all!! It is much more than that. How do you like your table, clean and empty or with pinch of style?

I heard this quote sometime back “I would rather have roses on my table than diamonds on my neck” – Emma Goldman and I couldn’t agree more. You know, summer is the time to relish all the bright and vibrant vibes and what’s better to get that similar vibe inside your homes, right onto your table. Come let’s make the best of memories gathered around a table.

Side Tables

Money plants are the easiest to procure and maintain and it grows out beautifully and is a symbol of positivity and luck. The table lesser used can be loaded with elements. The best ones being greens, books and scented candle and you are sorted. The lights around side table are supposed to be mood lighting and the best being a simple aroma candle light.
Choose myriads of summer colors and see how beautiful it looks. Spread these colors around a focal point which is my side table here with my personal favorite anthuriums (off course when in bloom). You can pick and choose your favorite one.

Center Table

Center tables are multipurpose tables specially in Mumbai. It is used for decorating when guests arrive, a work station in work from home situation or a, table for suppers and dine. Same is the case in my home. One center table plays different roles. So there should be a quick transition from empty table to appropriate setups.
While you are treating your taste buds, you can just add bunch of greens on you tables. If you don’t have potted plant, just pluck some goodness from your surrounding and put it in water in some jar and its ready to go on the table. It immediately lifts up the taste buds.
Now that you are full, its time to set your table for the rest of the day. I personally love the vibes of bougainvillea and I have been wanting it in my home since a year. But none the less these bougainvillea are  from my society which I have been looking at from my window all the time. So I plucked some, cleaned and put it in that glass jar. Though this colorful palette is enough to bring in those vibes, I thought to add books and some planter, gradually turning it into a reading place too.
When you want to work on your table, remove all extras and instead set your laptops, files etc. but let that beautiful bougainvillea or your greens to stand still in the middle for a happy mood.
If you have a smaller table and don’t want to overdo it, you can just add a single smaller plant with some artefacts and candle box. You are good to spend your time by a table side.
If you have some guests coming over or want to show off your style in parties, you can add as many elements as you want. Choose a throw or runner to form a base to all props. Place your planter and start to place rest of the props around it. Set up your tray with candles, books, petals and place it. Add some books and artefacts of your choice. You can buy one style of props or bring together elements and make it look coherent.

Dining Table

Want to set up a table for two?? I wouldn’t let you set that without a plant. Funny, how a planter adjusts in all places and becomes the highlight also. Most of the time all of us prefer to use readily available cutlery. Layering of table with tableware and cutlery looks good in photos and events only. It is difficult to keep it that way all day. So why not style it in a manageable way. A plant ( I would suggest pampas and wheat grass – I have not been able to procure for myself so far), minimal cutlery and yes definitely some candle stands if you have.

I think if you use the above-mentioned tips, it will make a difference to the overall grey environment. These changes are little but they make a significant difference in creating a happy ambiance and believe me, you will be bored with the monsoon but not with the decor. When we can, why not dress our home according to the season, like, how we do.

Make some changes in your home and tell me in the comment section how it changed your mood.

See you next time!
