Koffee with Khushboo

Hello and Welcome to Koffee with Khushboo!! We are back with our post and this time we are indulging in styling a corner. Why did I style my space?? What made me do so? Is styling simple? Do you need to spend a lot of money buying beautiful artefacts?? Lot of confusion, right??

Come let’s get started and answer all those questions through a simple styling and remodeling of living area. I wanted to remodel my space simply because I wanted to see my space in a different way. The best way to get a new look is either to rearrange the setting with the furniture pieces or style it with the accessories you already have or want to invest in.

Since we all are in mid of a lockdown like situation and everyday struggle to bring in new things, therefore, I have tried to add little things that I already have. And believe me little things do make a big difference. These additions are small, DIYs and impactful.

Have a look at this space – neat, clean and everything well organized. Never did I feel the need to add more than just few cushions and this has been my go-to place after all day shuffling from one site to another. Come back and lie down in all different postures! But after staying home all day in such times, I realized that this place definitely needed something more than just being neat and clean with furniture. So I decided to separate the ‘L’ of the sofa and make it into two separate settings. The longer one stays here and shorter goes to the other wall.

I started gathering artefacts, plants, accessories, cushions and anything that would be easily available at home. While searching all through, I came across artificial plant sheets which were used in one of the events and I had saved it (just to be environment friendly!). I picked up a bunch of it and put it on the window wall. Yes! The half wall that you see below window. Just drill the nails and hang the sheets on it. Easy peezy, right!! It immediately gave a look of some garden or a lawn, which we have not seen since a long time. Also I rearranged some hanging pots outside window.
I prefer to add just two cushions so that it is easier to maintain on day-to-day basis and it will look neat and set, no matter wherever and however they are placed. Also, if you notice, the walls, curtains and sofa are neutral that almost all the color can go with it. It is easier to pick on colors because everything just merges. I chose two colorful cushion covers and a throw and a coffee setup for obvious reasons. Who wouldn’t long to sip the evening tea and coffee along all the greenery! There are also some colorful mismatched pieces to enhance the vibrancy of the place.
Table are easier to style. The side tables always look good with plants, books, attractive pieces and you are sorted. You can pick and choose your style. I didn’t prefer a potted plant because there was already so much greenery behind. I styled it with candle holders and some collected accessories and did same for the center table though I sometimes prefer to have a potted plant on the center table.
I preferred to keep the center table minimally styled so that it can work as a “work from home” setup too. Yes that’s because the table top can be lifted up to make it a work station. Did you notice the table has a storage inside it? A convenient storage, I must say  all the extra things, laptops etc. can be put inside after work. This has been a smart buy, totally worth the price.

Let me leave you with some visuals to see how it all turned out – minimal, basic and appropriate. It is pleasantly refreshing and naturally lighted. It feels absolutely fresh to sip that evening coffee along the window side. Doesn’t it give a feeling of balcony already? So next time don’t complain about not having a balcony as you can create one. I loved every bit of it and will keep this setting for a while until I again think of giving it a makeover and bring about some more ideas to redo your space.

I think if you use the above-mentioned tips, it will make a difference to the overall grey environment. These changes are little but they make a significant difference in creating a happy ambiance and believe me, you will be bored with the monsoon but not with the decor. When we can, why not dress our home according to the season, like, how we do.

Make some changes in your home and tell me in the comment section how it changed your mood.

See you next time!
